Kim Herforth Nielsen

Architect MAA/RIBA, Kim Herforth Nielsen, is Founder and Principal of 3XN. Kim Herforth Nielsen graduated from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 1981 and was one of the three Nielsen-founders in 1986. Ever since he has been the driving force behind 3XN, and been involved in all the practice's major projects, including The Blue Planet, Museum of Liverpool, Ørestad College, Muziekgebouw Concert Hall in Amsterdam and the Danish Embassy in Berlin. 

Kim Herforth Nielsen is often called upon as a jury member in international architectural competitions and as lecturer at art academies and universities around the world. Kim Herforth Nielsen is a Knight of Dannebrog and has received Denmark's highest architectural honor, the C.F. Hansen Medaille.

Jan Ammundsen
Architect MAA, Senior Partner,
Head of Competition

Architect MAA, Jan Ammundsen, is Senior Partner and Head of 3XNs Competition Department in Copenhagen. He is responsible for idea development and design concepts, and he has been the driving force behind many of the studio's award-winning designs.

Jan Ammundsen graduated from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 2000 and joined 3XN in 2005. As Partner since 2007 Jan Ammundsen’s portfolio includes first prize projects like The Blue Planet, the Arc in Mandal, the Molde Theatre and Jazzhouse, Middelfart Savings Bank, Horsens Stadium, and the Bella Sky Hotel.Jan Ammundsen has been awarded the prestigious "Europe 40 under 40" Award - a recognition given to extraor.

Kasper Guldager Jensen
Architect MAA, Senior Partner,
Director of GXN

Kasper Guldager Jensen is an innovator and developer at 3XN. He is Senior Partner at 3XN and Director of GXN, an internal Innovation Unit established in 2007 to exploit the possibilities that arises applying latest knowledge and technology into design and architecture. In the space of a few years he has become a spokesperson for the shape of future architecture, focusing on new business areas and integration of new materials and green technologies.

Kasper Guldager Jensen is a much sought after lecturer at home and abroad and has completed numerous articles and book publications on new possibilities in materials, technology and green architecture.

Jeanette Hansen

Architect MAA, Senior Partner, CEO


Architect MAA and Senior Partner, Jeanette Hansen took over as CEO at 3XN in December 2015. Jeanette has worked as Senior Associate and Project Manager at 3XN since 2004. 

Jeanette Hansen has been working on some of the studio’s most important corporate and residential projects including the new headquarters for KPMG and Horten. Lately she has functioned as the Project Manager on the new Swedbank Headquarters in Stockholm, which has been inaugurated May 2014. Jeanette also contributed to 3XN's winning proposal for the Quay Quarter competition in Sydney.

Jeanette Hansen is the main responsible for strategy, organization, economics and she is overall responsible for the project design and the project development.


Anders Wadman

Architect SAR/MSA, Partner 3XN Sweden AB


Anders Wadman has worked as Project Architect and Project Manager at 3XN since 2011 and he was named Partner of 3XN Sweden AB in June 2014.

Anders Wadman has been one of the key people in the design and project development of 3XN's first building in Stockholm; the new 45,000 m2 Headquarters of Swedbank, inagurated in May 2014. Another key project in Stockholm where Anders has played a major role in is the Stockholm Continental mixed-use project right across from the central station.

He now runs the 3XN office in Stockholm with a staff of 4 people. 

Audun Opdal

Architect MAA, Partner


Audun Opdal, Architect MAA, has been with 3XN since graduating from Aarhus School of Architecture in 2008. He was named Partner in December 2014.

Audun Opdal is one of 3XN’s leading designers in the competition department. He has been responsible of some of 3XN's most high-profile competition entries such as Copenhagen Arena, Swedbank's headquarters in Stockholm, Frederiksberg Courthouse and a part of the team behind Quay Quarter Building in Sydney.

Audun works holistically with architecture from concept development, 3D visualization, functionality - and flow analysis to schematic design and façade details. Audun Opdal’s strength lies in the combination of aesthetic considerations combined with functionality.

Fred Holt

Architect, B.Arch, M.Arch., Partner


Architect, Fred Holt, joined 3XN in 2010 and he was named Partner in December 2014.

Having been involved with such an advance project from the early programming stages through the construction documents, Fred Holt brings a level of expertise to projects that have a proper balance between design and “know-how.”

While at 3XN, he has been designing, developing and managing projects ranging from a Museum and Learning Center in Moscow to Mixed-use towers in Sweden and India as well as the new headquarters for the IOC in Lausanne. Most recently Fred Holt played a significant design role in 3XN's winning proposal for the Quay Quarter competition in Sydney. 


Marie Hesseldahl Larsen

Architect MAA, Partner


Architect MAA, Marie Hesseldahl Larsen, has worked for 3XN since graduating from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 2006. She was named Partner in December 2014. 

Marie Hesseldahl primarily works in the Competition Department doing conceptual design development and presentation of large scale competition projects, primarily offices, cultural and public buildings. Marie is highly skilled in design development and detailed functionality, flow and conceptual analysis. She has special competencies in interior design, and as Design Responsible she has developed the interior design for Bella Sky Hotel and the new Swedbank Headquarters in Stockholm.

Stig Vesterager Gothelf

Architect MAA, Partner


Stig Vesterager Gothelf, Architect MAA, graduated from Aarhus School of Architecture in 2000 and joined 3XN in 2007. He was named Partner in December 2014.

Stig Vesterager Gothelf is one of the driving forces behind the studio’s competition department and his ability to run complex design projects had led to numerous competition wins. Most recently was a 25.000 m2 building for the Technical Faculty of the German university, Duale Hochschule, in Stuttgart and a 68.000 m2 extension of the main hospital, Rigshospitalet, in Copenhagen. Stig is an experienced design architect with a strong skillset in site analysis, concept development, 3D modelling and the visual communication of projects as well.

Torben Østergaard

Architect MAA, MOL, Partner


Torben Østergaard is a graduate from Aarhus School of Architecture and since 1995 gained multiple experiences as a designer and project manager at 3XN. Torben’s merits as a project manager on a range of international projects has been part of 3XN’s transformation to establish international recognition.

Torben Østergaard has been responsible for delivering a wide range of designs in Denmark and internationally such as Deloitte HQ in Copenhagen, MuziekGebouw/BIMHUIS in Amsterdam and is currently engaged in ongoing projects such as der Cube in Berlin, Shanghai Dream Center and Duale Hochschule in Stuttgart. His involvement in competitions, design execution and contract negotiations ensure qualifications during all stages from inception to inauguration.  

Through a Master in Experience Management (MOL) from Roskilde University in 2013, Torben Østergaard has acquired new theoretical and practical understandings of architecture in context of the experience economy. 

He was named Partner in December 2014.
